A Box and A Paragraph

In Clifton StrengthsFinders, JGSD - Just Get Something Done by ConnieLeaCreativeLeave a Comment

Today is my birthday. Last year on my birthday, as I was reflecting over the years and feeling very blessed, I also realized how lucky I am to have very few regrets. You know how the saying goes, “You’ll regret the things you didn’t do, more than the things you did do!” Well, here are 2 things that I didn’t do enough of in the past and my JGSD (Just Get Shit Done) plan on how I plan to change that for my future!

#1 – I wish I would have journaled more throughout my life. Thank goodness for pictures, because I honestly have a very poor memory and even though I can recall many wonderful events & travels from my life, it’s the precious details I wish I had written more about.

#2 – I wish I would have discarded more belongings as I brought new treasures into our home. Okay, I was trying to find a nice way of saying, “I have too much shit!” Our living spaces are open, clean and beautifully decorated. But you better put a helmet on if you open one of my closets, wardrobes or rummage through my garage (and yes, heaven forbid, a storage unit!).

So, I decided if I could commit to eliminating at least ONE BOX and writing at least ONE PARAGRAPH a week, by my next birthday, I would have 52 less boxes of “stuff” and at least 52 paragraphs of journaling done. Doesn’t that sound both wonderful and very obtainable?

I thought so too, but that idea was from last year’s birthday and I realize it didn’t fly because I didn’t share my idea or have anyone holding me accountable. In the world of Clifton StrengthsFinders, “Discipline” is #28 in line for me out of 34 talent themes. The good news is my Top 6 talent themes are; Futuristic, Positivity, Maximizer, Strategic, Self-Assurance and Activator, which means I have a magnificent vision of how things can be and I am more than confident that the unique plan I have already put into action will be a smashing success! I’m not too proud to admit though, that I can use some accountability reminders from my friends with; Achiever (17), Discipline (28) and Responsibility (24) higher up on their list of personal strengths!

Would any of my readers like to join me on this journey of “A Box and A Paragraph”? We can help hold each other accountable and have our own little place to receive a virtual “High 5!” when we post a picture of another empty box, organized drawer or cleaned out closet! Feel free to post your success stories, big or small in the comment section of this blog. I can’t wait to see 52 weeks from now, just how much we’ve all accomplished! Matter of fact, to spur on the accountability, I’ll reward one JGSD item from my on-line “Shoppe” to my pick-of-the-month post that reflects your progress with “A Box and A Paragraph”. It’s time to Just Get Shit Done!

Don’t forget to Always Pack a Hat (or maybe in this case, a Helmet!)
